Comb Honey Cravings

Have you ever eaten fresh comb honey straight off a hive tool, scraped from the hive on a hot summer day? It is an experience that not many people are fortunate enough to have.

Each summer, our honey bees stash their hard-earned golden honey in a wall of hexagonal-shaped wax. Then, they seal it up with another layer of wax in an incredibly elegant storage system. This year, we sought to harvest this special treat, as so many of our patrons had requested it last year.

In order to harvest comb honey, you must first insert foundation-less frames into the top box of the beehive hive. This way, the bees can build comb straight through. In the fall, when honey boxes are pulled, you can then remove the now completely drawn out frames of honey comb. Using a 3 x 3 in. cookie cutter, you can then easily slice out convenient and lovely-looking pieces of comb!

We are selling these slices for $1.50/oz. It is a perfect treat for the holidays and looks fabulous on a meat and cheese board! Wrap it up as a unique gift for your honey, or a special friend. Email TabernashHoney@gmail.com for availability!
